Mănăstirea Jitianu, which is technically just outside the city in Braniște, eight kilometres south — eighteen minutes by car. It holds a 4.6 from well over two hundred reviews and sees a fraction of the traffic that reaches the famous Oltenian monasteries. It is the shortest of all the day trips on this site and the one most people have never heard of.

Balta Verde is the southern edge of Craiova: residential, flat, close to the Jiu meadow, with nothing listed to eat and nowhere to stay. It is a route rather than a destination, and the route is the reason for the page.
