Local taxes in Craiova — where and how to pay

Online, at the counter or at a terminal — and why we will not quote you an amount.

Where you pay

Online: ghiseul.ro. Craiova uses the national platform rather than its own payment page. You need an account; taxes on buildings, land and vehicles are all there.

At the counter: Str. Târgului nr. 36, the local taxes office. Book first at programari.ditl.primariacraiova.ro — and note this is a different booking system from the one for ID cards, even though they share the building.

At a SelfPay terminal. The city hall has publicised paying local taxes through SelfPay machines, identified by the barcode on your assessment notice or by personal/fiscal code or tax roll number.

What this page will not tell you

The amounts, the deadlines, or whether there is an early-payment discount this year.

Not because they are secret, but because they are set annually by council decision and change. Every page on the internet that quotes a Craiova tax figure without a date is quoting something that may already be wrong, and we are not going to join them. The rates in force are on the city hall's taxes section, which is the only version that counts.

What is stable, and worth knowing:

  • Romanian local taxes are normally payable in two instalments, and paying the full year in the first window usually attracts a discount. Whether that discount applies and how large it is, is decided each year — check before you assume.
  • January is the month. The office is at its busiest in the first weeks of the year, which is exactly when booking an appointment rather than queueing pays off.
  • An assessment notice (decizie de impunere) carries the barcode that makes paying at a terminal quick. Keep it.

If you have just bought or sold

Buying a property or a vehicle creates an obligation to declare it, within a deadline, whatever the seller told you. Selling does not automatically remove you from the roll. Both are counter or portal business, and both are things people discover a year late, with penalties.
