The water park, and a 16th-century monastery almost nobody visits. North-west of the centre.
Two reasons, and they could not be less alike
Water Park Craiova is the first, and in a city that averages a 30 °C high through July and August it is a more serious recommendation than it sounds. Check its season and hours directly — outdoor pools here open and close by the weather as much as by the calendar.
Mănăstirea Coșuna is the second, and the opposite in every way: a 16th-century foundation on the edge of the city, usually empty, with none of the coach traffic that reaches Hurezi or Tismana. It is the oldest surviving church in the Craiova area and it is five minutes off a main road. If you have an hour and a car, go.
Otherwise
Residential, with nothing listed to eat or drink and nowhere to stay. Come for one of the two above and leave.
