Where culture happens in Craiova
A national theatre, a philharmonic, an opera and four cinemas — addresses, phones, and a link to each one's own programme.
Craiova has a national theatre, a philharmonic, an opera and a puppet theatre within a few streets of each other, plus four cinemas. The venues are below with their addresses and phones.
We do not reproduce their programmes. A season changes, performances sell out and dates move, and a mirrored listing would be out of date within a week while carrying our name. Each venue publishes its own programme and sells its own tickets — the links go straight there.
The clustering is worth knowing. The National Theatre "Marin Sorescu" and the Philharmonic are both a short walk from Piața Mihai Viteazul, and the Opera is on Strada Mihai Viteazul itself. An evening at any of them starts and ends in the same few streets as the restaurants and the bars, which is not true of most Romanian cities this size.
The theatre also gives Craiova its biggest international moment: the Shakespeare Festival, held every two years. See what is on for the dated calendar.
