Reporting something broken in Craiova
Telefonul Cetățeanului is 0251 984. What it covers, what it does not, and why writing it down is better.
Telefonul Cetățeanului — 0251 984
This is the city hall's line for things that are broken in public space. It is the number most people in Craiova do not know exists.
What it is for, in the city hall's own listing: aggressive dogs, the state of the roads, missing or stolen manhole covers, street cleaning, snow clearing, green spaces, playgrounds, district heating, water and sewerage, road signs, traffic lights, illegal construction, and public disturbance.
What it is not for: anything urgent. A person in danger, a fire, a gas smell — that is 112, and the difference matters.
The hospital line — 0351 913
A separate, around-the-clock number for problems in the municipal hospitals.
When it is not the city hall's job
A lot of calls go to the wrong place and are simply lost. Before ringing:
- No water, no power, gas smell → the utility, not the city hall. The numbers are on outages and faults.
- Something inside your block — the lift, the stairwell, a leak in the risers → the building administrator.
- A pothole on a national road through the city → may be the roads authority rather than the municipality, though the city hall line is still the right place to start.
Putting it in writing
A phone call leaves no trace you can refer back to. For anything you may need to escalate — a repeated problem, something with a deadline — file it in writing through the Portal servicii on-line and then track it with "Urmărește-ți cererea". See online services.
A written petition gets a registration number and a legal answering deadline. A phone call gets neither.
