The story
The park at the eastern end of Brâncuși's axis, and the setting the Column was designed for rather than a park that happens to contain it.
The approach matters: the Column is not placed at the centre of an open lawn but at the end of a walk, so it arrives rather than appears. If you have come from the Table of Silence and the Gate of the Kiss — 1.3 km west, through the town's central park and across the main street — this is where the sequence resolves.
Free, open, and the obvious place to stop with children on a Târgu Jiu day, which otherwise consists entirely of looking at sculpture. The Column is lit after dark and the park is the place to see it from.
