Craiova neighbourhood
Station & Brâncuși
Where you arrive by train or coach, twenty-five minutes' walk east of Calea Unirii. Cheaper beds, honest trade-off.
What it is
Piața Constantin Brâncuși and the streets around it: the railway station, the coach station next to it, and the first few blocks of the city you see if you arrive by public transport. It is twenty-five minutes' walk east of Calea Unirii along a flat, unremarkable but perfectly safe route, or a four-minute taxi.
That walk is the entire character of the area. Beds here are cheaper than the centre by a margin that is real rather than token, and if you are arriving late and leaving early — or coming for a match, or for one night on the way somewhere — the trade is a good one. Bella House Apartaments is the best-reviewed thing here.
Eating
Not a destination, but you will not go hungry: che Cornicione for pizza, Casa Doner for the obvious, Antik for a sit-down meal. Grădina Rovine is the green space.
Who it does not suit
Anyone who came to look at Craiova. There is nothing to see here and the walk into the centre is not a pleasant one, so a two-day trip spent in this area wastes an hour a day on transit. See the station page for platforms, left luggage and the route in, and the centre for where to stay instead.

Where should I eat in the Station?
Among the best-rated restaurants in the area are che Cornicione Pizza Craiova, Antik and Casa Doner. The ratings come from Google and are refreshed periodically — they are not paid placements.
Is the Station a good area to stay in?
It depends what you want from it. The accommodation section above lists a few options in the area, and the write-up at the top of this page says plainly who it suits and who it does not. The map at the foot of the page is centred on the Station itself.
