The story
This fountain is in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, not in Craiova. It is worth opening with that, because a great deal of the internet files it under the wrong city — travel listings, image searches and more than one guidebook put the "Fântâna Cinetică" in Craiova, where there is no such thing.
It is on Bulevardul Carol in Drobeta, 112 km west of Craiova and a measured 1 h 45 min by road, and it is one of the town's most-visited sights on its own merits — a kinetic water feature that is genuinely the evening gathering point rather than municipal decoration.
If you are in Drobeta for Trajan's Bridge and the Iron Gates Region Museum, it is a short walk and the natural place to end up after dark.
